The Somali National Army (SNA) rescued a group of people held hostage by Al-Shabaab in Lower Shabelle.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, the military rescued several people who Al-Shabaab held hostage for extortion.
First Lt. Abukar Mohamed Hassan, the spokesperson, confirmed that the hostages were rescued in an operation carried out on Tuesday.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the hostages had been kept incommunicado inside several lorries by the militant group.
