A Member of Parliament (MP) from Somalia’s Awdal region has slammed Ethiopia for what he terms “expansionist plans.”
Legislator Mohamed Hussein hit out at Ethiopia following the moves by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration to get direct access to a seaport in Somaliland.
Ethiopia signed an agreement with Somaliland on January 1, 2024 granting it direct access to a 20km seaport.
Ethiopia would in turn recognize Somaliland as an independent nation.
Hussein termed the expansionist plans by Ethiopia not only “unjust” but also a “violation” of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
