MOGADISHU — The Armed Forces Court has sentenced a former National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) operative to death for the fatal shooting of a young civilian in the Lower Shabelle region.
A Senseless Tragedy in Afgooye
Ex-NISA Private Mukhtar Shakur Amin was formally accused of the murder of the late Fathi Abdullahi Abdi. The fatal incident occurred on February 16, 2026, in the Afgooye District of Lower Shabelle. According to court records and eyewitness testimonies, the killing unfolded following a violent dispute stemming from the armed robbery of the deceased’s mobile phone, tragically occurring just as the victim was leaving a local mosque after performing the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.
The incident compounded into a double tragedy for the family. Following the violent death of his youngest son, Abdullahi Abdi Muse, reportedly suffered a fatal shock and passed away shortly after receiving the devastating news.
Swift Military Justice and Retribution
Following a lengthy and comprehensive initial investigation, the Armed Forces Prosecutor’s Office formally requested to take up the case. This legal transfer was officially approved on March 3. The proceedings align with a broader pattern of recent military court rulings aimed at delivering swift, uncompromising justice against both terrorists and rogue security personnel.
After various rigorous court sessions where both the prosecution and the defense were given ample opportunity to present their evidence, and having meticulously listened to eyewitnesses to the incident, the Court delivered its final verdict. Today, Ex-NISA Private Mukhtar Shakur Amin was officially sentenced to death by firing squad as Qisas (Islamic legal retribution) for the murder of Fathi Abdullahi Abdi.
The final sentencing and the details of the court’s decision were publicly announced to the media by Colonel Hassan Ali Nur Shute, the Chairman of the Court.
