President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) held elections discussions with an Ethiopian delegation on January 17.
Initially, it was not clear what the two teams discussed.
However, sources close to Villa Somalia now claim that the discussions revolved around Somalia’s upcoming elections.
The East African nation is scheduled to hold parliamentary and presidential elections in January and February 2021 respectively.
Farmaajo met with the Ethiopian delegation that was led by General Birhanu Jula Gelalcha, the Ethiopia’s Chief of General Staff.
Gen. Gelalcha led a delegation that comprised several senior Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) personnel.
Shimelis Abdisa, the President of Oromia State also joined the Ethiopian delegation in the secret visit to Mogadishu.
