The ITUC is calling for an immediate adherence to international law regarding the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Highlighting that peace and social justice are inseparable, the ITUC rejects unilateral political decisions that bypass established UN and African Union frameworks.
The ITUC specifically urges:
-
The Israeli Government: To reconsider its current position and align its actions with UN resolutions respecting Somalia’s territorial integrity.
-
All States: To avoid unilateral acts that threaten the fragile stability of the Horn of Africa.
-
Global Institutions: For the UN and AU to intensify support for inclusive dialogue and state-building.
The ITUC remains steadfast in its support for Somali workers and FESTU, maintaining that sustainable development and human security can only be achieved through respect for borders and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
