Israel Denies Plans to Resettle Gazans in Somaliland

JERUSALEM (SD) – The Israeli Government has stated that its agreements with Somaliland do not include any provision for relocating people from Gaza to Somaliland.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, speaking in an exclusive interview with Israel’s Channel 14, was asked directly about moving Gazans to Somaliland and replied that the allegation is unfounded.
“There is no agreement between Israel and Somaliland concerning the transfer of Gazans to Somaliland,” the minister said.
He added that arrangements between Israel and Somaliland address political issues, security, and overall partnership between the two parties.
Several Arab nations and the Somali Government have alleged that Israel has ulterior motives in recognizing Somaliland, including supposed plans to resettle Palestinians living in Gaza to areas under Somaliland’s jurisdiction.
Somaliland has recently denied this accusation, even as Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud asserted that such a clause was part of a three-point accord reached between Israel and Somaliland.
