Mogadishu to Host Inaugural National Digital Public Infrastructure Summit

MOGADISHU — The Ministry of Communications and Technology and the Office of the Prime Minister have announced plans to convene Somalia‘s first-ever National Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Summit.

Scheduled to take place in Mogadishu from February 14-15, this landmark event represents a significant collaborative effort by the Federal Government to enhance the country’s technological foundation and streamline public service efficiency.

Unified National Strategy

The initiative is being developed in partnership with Somalia’s critical regulatory and financial bodies, including the Central Bank of Somalia (CBS), the National Communications Authority (NCA), the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), and the Data Protection Authority (DPA).

The summit is designed to serve as a primary forum for coordinating technology discussions and harmonizing various initiatives aimed at building the nation’s digital framework.

Focus on Interoperability

The main objective of the meeting is to create a unified national strategy focused on digital system interoperability. By coordinating the activities of these principal institutions, the government seeks to expedite Somalia’s digital advancement.

Key priorities for the summit include establishing protocols that guarantee transparency and accountability while significantly enhancing the quality and availability of modern services accessible to the Somali people.
