Opposition Parties in Somalia Commend President Madobe for Signing Historic Deal with Rivals

On Thursday, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame commended President Ahmed Madobe for signing a historic deal with his Jubaland rivals.

Eight months after the elections that saw Madobe ascend to power, his three rivals have never hidden their displeasure at the outcome.

Dahir Ahmed Sheikh, Abdirashid Hiddig, and Abdinasir Seeraar, have routinely opposed and criticized Madobe and his administration.

However, two days ago, the three met in Nairobi where they agreed and signed a deal that allows them to bury the hatchet and work together.

Warsame, the leader of the Wadajir Party, tweeted his pleasure at the decision by Jubaland leaders to overcome the political impasse that has been evident for years and pursue stability.

Further, Warsame asked leaders of the country’s Southwest State to copy their colleagues in Jubaland and strike a deal that promotes stability in the region.

He also hit out at President Mohamed Farmaajo’s administration for their inability to reconcile with critics all over the country.

The Jubaland deal also attracted the attention of Forum for National Parties’ leader, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. He said the deal offers the people of Jubaland a golden hope.

Sharif also hailed the deal’s ability to demonstrate Somalia’s capacity for burying the ghosts of “nonstop despicable politics” while creating opportunities for progressive growth.
