A powerful ordnance burst in Lower Shavelle caused the deaths of 7 children while injuring 11 others.
Dr. Mohamud Mohamed Jimaale, the director of Lower Shabelle’s Shalanhood Hospital, confirmed the incident to the media.
According to Dr. Jimaale, Shalanhood Hospital has no capacity for handling the nature of the injuries suffered.
Dr. Jimaale said that 7 children died from the burst ordnance.
Furthermore, he also confirmed that three of the injured children had already lost their limbs to the burst ordnance.
The incident reportedly took place in Golweyn, a village that is near Marka town, Lower Shabelle.
Local authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
Nevertheless, there is strong suspicion that the ordnance has been on the ground for a very long time.
