Somali National Army (SNA) troops repulsed a raid organized by Al-Shabaab fighters at a military base in Central Somalia.
Heavy fight lasting several hours erupted between SNA soldiers and Al-Shabaab militants in Buloburde, Hiiraan.
Local residents said they heard sounds of heavy gunfire that lasted way past midnight.
SNA troops repulsed the extremists successfully and were in complete control of the army base after scattering fighters from the Al-Qaeda linked group.
Thus far, no side has released any details of casualties from the skirmishes that rocked the region.
