Somali Ambassador Visits Yemen, Engages with Community Members

HADRAMOUT — The Somali Ambassador to Yemen, Abdirahman Mohamed Ahmed, recently traveled to the Hadramout region, where he was warmly welcomed by local Somali community members and diaspora leaders.

Community Engagement and Support

During his official visit, the Ambassador participated in a communal Iftar gathering hosted by the Somali community. The event, successfully organized by Ms. Suleeq Omar Ali, who coordinates local community affairs including social activities and development initiatives, provided a vital platform for open dialogue. It allowed for direct discussions regarding the current security situation and the specific issues affecting Somali citizens residing in Yemen.

In his keynote speech at the event, Ambassador Abdirahman Mohamed Ahmed reaffirmed the embassy’s steadfast dedication to assisting Somali nationals overseas. This commitment aligns with the federal government’s broader strategy to strengthen its diplomatic missions and foreign service representation.

“We represent the Somali people, and we are prepared to assist Somali citizens anywhere to help them obtain the services they require,” the Ambassador stated to the attendees.

Improving Access to Vital Services

A major focal point of the visit was improving consular accessibility. The Ambassador officially announced that the Hadramout region will soon begin issuing Somali passports and other important legal documents directly to Somali residents in Yemen. According to officials, this decentralized approach will significantly improve the diaspora’s access to critical government services, eliminating the need for complex and hazardous travel to secure essential documentation.
