JEDDAH — The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ali Mohamed Omar, recently held a strategic bilateral meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The diplomatic dialogue took place at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat in Jeddah, occurring on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee.
Defending Territorial Integrity
During their extensive exchange, Deputy Prime Minister Dar forcefully reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity and full support for the sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Crucially, the Pakistani leadership strongly condemned the illegal Israeli recognition of Somaliland as a separate state. By officially aligning with Mogadishu on this critical issue, Islamabad joins a rapidly growing coalition of allied nations actively defending Somalia’s national borders against external, unilateral interference.
Expanding Bilateral Cooperation
Beyond regional security concerns, both ministers acknowledged that the enduring relationship between Pakistan and Somalia is deeply rooted in shared historical and religious affinities.
Building on this strong foundational alliance, the officials exchanged views on actionable steps to advance bilateral cooperation across several critical sectors. The diplomatic teams specifically targeted future advancements in cross-border trade, the sharing of technological expertise, and enhancing direct, people-to-people contacts to foster mutual economic growth.
