MOGADISHU — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in cooperation with international partners, executed a series of planned tactical operations targeting Kharijite militias and senior leaders across the Hiran and Mudug regions. These coordinated strikes resulted in the deaths of over 22 militants who were actively organizing plots against the security of the Somali public.
The Dumaye Strike in Mudug
According to security officials, the first operation took place in the Dumaye area of the Mudug region, specifically targeting a known location where senior Kharijite leaders and militias were gathering.
Up to 15 militant members were killed in the Dumaye attack. NISA confirmed the neutralization of several high-ranking leaders, including Hudeyfa Galinle (assistant to the Mudug representative), Qatatow (former head of the Mudug militia), Abdirahman Garweyne (head of propaganda and misinformation for the Jowle area), Dahir (head of extortion in Dumaye and Dabagalo), and Abdiwali (former leader of the Bacaadweyne militia).
Targeted Operations in Hiran
Similarly, a targeted operation in the Mahas district of the Hiran region focused on two houses occupied by leaders and militiamen acting as bodyguards for Mustafa Ato, the designated Kharijite militia leader for the region.
This operation successfully eliminated seven militants, including two key figures crucial to the terrorist group’s financial networks: Qalif Mumin Sabriya and Osman Abdulle Farah. The strike also resulted in the complete destruction of multiple vehicles utilized by these leaders.
The NISA agency confirmed it has significantly intensified its operations pursuing terrorists. This systematic approach aligns with broader national security campaigns, such as the recent military offensives led by Somali forces in Hawadley, aimed at permanently eradicating militant remnants from all areas where they remain in hiding.
