Somalia Sets Ramadan to Begin February 18, 2026

MOGADISHU — The Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Mukhtar Robow, has officially announced that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1447.

In a press briefing held in Mogadishu, Minister Robow confirmed that the crescent moon had been successfully sighted in multiple locations across the country, validating the commencement of the fasting period in accordance with Islamic tradition.

“We conducted thorough and extensive observations to spot the Ramadan crescent, and the Somali government confirms that the new moon has been seen in numerous locations nationwide,” stated Minister Sheikh Mukhtar Robow.
