Somaliland has received a donation of firefighting equipment from the government of the breakaway nation of Taiwan.
His Excellency Mohamed Omar Haji Mohamud, Somaliland’s Representative to Taiwan, attended the handing over ceremony, which took place in Chiayi County.
Haji received the donation on behalf of the government of Somaliland.
Weng Chang-Liang, Chiayi County Magistrate, handed over the donation, which included a small fire truck and water tender, to SL Representative Haji.
Chiayi County Fire Bureau organized the event.
Weng expressed his delight at the initiative that Chiayi County administration took to help one of the country’s international partners.
Somaliland doesn’t have enough firefighting equipment. This breakaway region is also in need of different types of disaster relief equipment and supplies.
Haji commended Taiwan for the donation, which he said would go a long way towards enabling Somaliland to handle fire disasters.
