The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has urged Somalis stuck in Kenya to report to the nearest immigration offices.
On January 28, the government asked its citizens who wish to leave Kenya to visit the immigration offices in Balad Hawa and Dhobley to pick their passports.
Currently, the two neighboring East African nations are embroiled in a heated diplomatic spat that threatens regional stability and security.
Their case has been discussed at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which ruled in favor of Kenya.
Since then, Somalia has threatened to leave the regional bloc unless it apologizes to Mogadishu for siding with Kenya.
Balad Hawa, which is in Gedo, was the scene of a deadly shootout over the weekend while Dhobley is a town located along Somalia’s border with Kenya.
