Somali religious leaders and large crowds demonstrated in Mogadishu on Wednesday morning against Israel’s alleged recognition of the northwestern region and its involvement in Somalia’s domestic affairs. Speaking near the Unknown Soldier Monument, the scholars denounced efforts to divide Somalia and reiterated that the northwestern area is an inseparable part of the nation. They cautioned against foreign meddling and urged unity and local dialogue to resolve internal matters. Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity are upheld by the African Union, the Arab League, the United Nations, and the broader international community, all of which regard the northwestern region as a component of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
